As a Spanish immigrant, what has it been like coming to Australia?

Coming to Australia as an immigrant has been the biggest and most rewarding challenge of my life. It took a little while to adapt to the different culture and environment, but I have gone from working in little Spanish Clubs to now buying my own house, working in successful restaurants and having my own TV shows.

Is celebrating cultural diversity important to you?

Yes, because I feel really proud of being both Spanish and Australian at the same time.

How does food break down cultural boundaries between people?

Australia is such a young country and the people are so interested and curious about things. Anyone I talk to, whatever their job or background, if I want to chat to someone and talk about food, they’re likely to be interested.
