Baked Bean Falafels shared by , Heinz

Light, fresh and just as delicious as the real thing! Have loads of fun creating these fantastic vegetarian falafels for your family.

Ingredients
  • 420g can Heinz Baked Beanz in Tomato
  • Sauce
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 cup dried breadcrumbs
  • ¼ cup chopped fresh coriander
  • ¼ cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1-2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp bicarbonate soda
  • 2 pinches of chilli powder
  • oil, for frying
  • pita bread or flour tortillas, to serve
  • shredded lettuce, to serve
  • chopped tomatoes, to serve
  • sliced red onion, to serve
  • hummus, to serve
Method

Combine Heinz Baked Beanz, onion and garlic in a food processor. Blend until a soft paste is formed. Remove to a large bowl. Mix in breadcrumbs, coriander, parsley, cumin, bicarbonate soda and chilli. Season to taste. Mix well to combine. Roll into balls and flatten slightly. Heat oil in a large frying pan and cook the falafels for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until crisp and golden. Drain on absorbent paper. Serve wrapped in pita bread with lettuce, chopped tomatoes, sliced onion and hummus.
