I tried and learned how to make this sensational dish on my honeymoon on Boracay Island in the Philippines.
- Fresh tuna steak
- Coconut cream rice wine vinegar - or any of the 'gentle' vinegar varieties
- 1 Fresh red chilli
- 1 Fresh green chilli
- 1 small/medium spanish onion
- Lime juice
Cube the tuna steak into 1-2cm pieces
Finely slice the onion and chillies (if you don't like it particularly hot remove some of the seeds)
Dress the tuna pieces generously with a mix of the vinegar, lime juice and coconut cream
Toss in the onion slices and chilli. Set aside for a couple of hours and serve on a bed of shredded lettuce.
Salt, pepper and/or sugar can be added depending on your taste, but natural is best
