Look at food as more than just what’s on your plate—it's an experience. Was it delicious? Awesome! Was it awful? Well, that’s a funny story for later! My motto is, "How do you know you don’t like it if you haven’t tried it at least once?" It’s all about embracing new flavours and moments, no matter the outcome.

2. What does food mean to you both? Is it more than just a meal?

For us, food is much more than just a meal—it's an experience. Food has the power to bring people together. It's a celebration, a reflection of culture, a source of comfort, and a way to connect. There's so much more to food than what’s on the plate; it’s about the memories and moments it creates.

3. A Taste of Harmony is all about celebrating cultural diversity through food. Have you had a meal that really opened your eyes to a new culture?

We spent some time in Sri Lanka and absolutely fell in love with the cuisine. Hoppers, kottu, curries, and dhal—each dish packed with incredible flavour. The spices are so aromatic and rich, they left a lasting impression on us. Every bite told a story of Sri Lanka’s vibrant culture and culinary tradition, making it an unforgettable experience.

4. You’ve tried so many incredible dishes—what’s one you think everyone should try at least once?

Sushi and sashimi in Japan—if you’ve never experienced an authentic Japanese sushi meal, you’re truly missing out. Japan’s unique culture, rich in history and tradition, is beautifully reflected in every dish. The attention to detail and the deep respect for ingredients create a dining experience that goes far beyond just eating—it’s a connection to the essence of Japan itself.

5. You’re all about fun food adventures—what’s the wildest or most unexpected thing you’ve ever eaten?

When we traveled to Botswana, we had the opportunity to try some truly unique dishes, from kudu and ostrich to even elephant. It was an eye-opening experience that gave us a deeper understanding of the local culture. What we might consider taboo or unconventional in Australia is simply a way of life there. They live off the land, wasting nothing, with every meal rooted in sustainability. Nothing is processed or artificial—just pure, natural nourishment. It was a profound reminder of the deep connection between food and the environment.

6. What’s a dish that instantly reminds you of home?

For a first-generation Italian guy like me, it’s pasta. I grew up in my mum’s and Nonna’s kitchen, watching them prepare recipes passed down through generations. The rich, comforting flavours of southern Italian food spark something deep within me, always drawing me back to my family's Sicilian roots. For Luke, it’s got to be slow-roasted lamb with lemon potatoes. A classic Greek dish, full of flavour and brimming with memories of unforgettable family time.

7. If you could host the ultimate dinner party with three guests (dead or alive), who would they be and what would you serve?

Queen Elizabeth, Anthony Bourdain, and Kim Kardashian—what a dinner party that would be! I’d serve simple cheeseburgers and chicken nuggets, topped with quality caviar. The contrast between classic comfort food and luxurious caviar would create the perfect balance, blending indulgence with simplicity for a truly unforgettable experience.

8. What’s your go-to guilty pleasure food? (No judgment!)

Cheese! It sparks a joy in us like nothing else. When we’re feeling down, a wheel of cheese and a glass of wine can turn our whole mood around. There's just something about the perfect combination that makes everything feel right.

9. Why do you think food is such a powerful way to bring people together?

Food has this magical way of breaking down barriers. It’s something everyone can connect with, no matter where you're from. Whether it’s sharing a meal or trying something new together, food sparks conversation, creates memories, and turns strangers into friends. It’s universal, yet deeply personal—making it the perfect way to bring people together.

10. What’s one tip for people looking to step outside their comfort zone and try new cuisines?

Look at food as more than just what’s on your plate—it's an experience. Was it delicious? Awesome! Was it awful? Well, that’s a funny story for later! My motto is, "How do you know you don’t like it if you haven’t tried it at least once?" It’s all about embracing new flavours and moments, no matter the outcome.
